The animals that were used in this pen and ink image were the buffalo, grizzly, wolf and eagle. Paul chose these animals because they are majestic but to the Native Americans, each totem has an important meaning. The buffalo is a symbol of abundance and manifestation. Their large heads represent high intelligence and their strong bodies ground them to the earth. The bear is a highly desired spirit helper and ally because it is fearless and very powerful. The wolf symbolizes the balance between family (pack) and the needs you have for yourself. (lone) The eagle is a sacred messenger and is believed to carry prayers to the Creator, returning with gifts and visions for the Native American people. Eagles are viewed as extremely patient. The people who have the eagle as their totem learn, through the eagle, how to master patience in every area of their lives.
